The Adventures of Rocky

Rocky's story begins in a railyard on a summer night under a blanket of stars. Not the smallest but certainly not the biggest of his litter, Rocky was born with an aggressive attitude that set him apart. He was small, with a deceptively powerful frame, sharp eyes, and alert ears that seemed to pick up everything going on around him.

While his brothers and sisters were content to play the day away, Rocky would ask his mother what the world beyond their railyard home was like. At night he would drift off to sleep to tales filled with colorful characters and locations that sounded exotic and far away. "Where is Ohio?," he'd wonder. "Will I ever make it to California?" For his mother, these were melancholy moments; she knew Rocky was bound to leave her and have adventures all his own.

The day Rocky decided he was ready to strike out on his own, the fall air was crisp and filled with the promise of excitement and newfound friends. He dashed along the tracks and sprang from the railyard with a mighty burst, landing on the platform of an Intermodal train. As the conductor barked a final "All clear," the mighty train pulled away, leaving his home and family in the distance.

It wasn't long before Rocky knew his mother had been right. The Intermodal trains he hopped on traveled across the country, from coast to coast and north to south. In every stop, at every border crossing he made friends – there were sleepy sheepdogs and funny-looking pugs, pushy bulldogs and sleek hounds. Pretty soon, the border agents, draymen, and crane operators who worked the yards all knew the powerful little guy who'd come into their midst.
